Since Day 1 of the strike, the CWA Bargaining Committee has been available to meet 24/7. On Day 7, a Frontier Rep reached out and expressed an interest in trying to identify outstanding issues in the hopes of moving towards an agreement and settlement of the strike. Upon meeting with the Company, they presented a settlement package that not only didn’t resolve any outstanding issues, but added three additional issues to the table.

Since the strike was called on March 4, 2018, there have been no meetings between the CWA Bargaining Committee and the Frontier Bargaining Committee. District 2-13 Vice President Ed Mooney has spoken with Frontier representatives. The message Ed delivered was simple. To reach an agreement and settle this strike, everyone in the bargaining unit must be covered by employment security and the expanded use of contractors must stop.

As Frontier Strike Continues, CWA Urges Customers to Use Caution

Frontier Communications has begun hiring out-of-state workers in an attempt to maintain operations in West Virginia as a strike by 1,400 workers continues. CWA is urging customers to use caution if they encounter someone repairing telephone lines or equipment or responding to a service call. Earlier today, WV State Police detained an armed temporary Frontier worker who threatened a striker in Flatwoods, WV.

After ten months of negotiations, members of the Communications Workers of America have not been able to reach agreement on a fair contract with Frontier Communications. As a result, 1,400 Frontier Communications workers in West Virginia and in Ashburn, VA went on strike at 12:01 am on Sunday, March 4.
